Hello All Seniors,

Kindly give me some information about ESIC. I know the basic information like benefits and contributions, but there are certain issues that remain unsolved for me.

1. If I am registering myself for ESIC this month (September 2012), when will I be eligible to avail the benefits? Suppose if I meet with an accident next month, will I get any benefit/cash? Who will pay me - the employer or ESIC office?

2. Is the government paying any annual interest?

3. If an employee is registered in ESIC in their previous company and the current company does not provide such benefits/statutory compliances, what should they do? How can they contribute? Is the employer bound to contribute? Can the employee avail any benefits in an emergency, even if they have not contributed for 2 or more months?

4. If an employee is shifting from one state to another, what do they have to do?

Dear Shekhar,

Both your PowerPoint presentations on the MB Act and ESI Act are excellent snapshots of the Acts. Well done. Do you have any other presentations on major Labour Laws such as the EPF Act, ID Act, Factories Act, etc.? If so, it would be great if you could share them.

Thanks and regards,

Nice PPT Anshu..............

Dear Sujata,

An employee is eligible for availing the benefits after 7 days of registering under ESI. ESI will pay in case of an accident. As the ESI amount is a non-refundable contribution, the government is not paying any interest on this.
