hello,

i am madah, i have completed my MBA bi-majors(Marketing- HR) from a reputed university in karachi. Actually my father is physically disabled and my mother is suffering from cancer, i have to stay at home and look after them because of which I CANNOT DO A JOB! I am really fond of continuing my education further and my parents even want me to do so, i have been reviewing some distance learning programs and online certifications that could aid me in future but am still not clear.

i really need some advice that can help me to decide on a certification or degree to take on. i want to study further, marketing has always been my passion, and would like to learn in this domain.

i wanted to do a certification in project management but that requires certain hours as a PM which i lack.

please please help me in setting things straight, i don't want to sit idle at home, i want to benefit from this time period, i am open to all sort of advises. looking forward for real good words of wisdom

thanx :)

Hello,
While empathizing with your situation, there's one aspect in your thought/decision-making process that's missing.
Since you can't do a job, now or later, what do you propose doing after 'continuing my education further' stage? There definitely would come a time when you need to put the education to good use AND you can't surely keep doing degrees/PhDs all thru your life--right?
Since you already have a MBA--which is quite commendable, given your situation--why not register in some freelancer websites where you can begin to earn sitting @ home? If you do some research over the Internet, I am sure you would figure-out some areas where your skills/expertize/knowledge can be put to good use. Such an effort can also hone your existing skills.
Further education can follow as A PART OF THIS EFFORT, rather than as a stand-alone effort. Hope you get the point.
All the Best.

Hi,
I fully sympathise with your unfortunate situation, however i dont understand why you are keen on studying further, as the domain that you are interested in , is not at all a theory field, rather a practicle field where you will learn by experience.
No degree will make you a better mkt whizz, rather make you drain your finances.
i am sure you cannot afford that. rather, you can go for some local marketing, if you can afford, become a distributor, and if you cant do anything of above, see if you can get a job as a teacher... teaching your passion.
wish you all the best....
reading one book on marketing will not help you as much as meeting ten people....

i really appreciate your kind responses, adding to the above detail.... i have been doing freelance writing since my o-levels, ranging from creative writing to insights on social issues, along with that i along with a friend run a small business, designing apparels, its small but i manage to do it from home... i take orders online, get it done from my workers and deliver it... but now i want to add more, i guess i am being proactive, but i feel that this is reaching the point of saturation, i just supervise my business, which isnt very time consuming n i have 3 people helping me to run it.
i want to study more :(
regards!
