hi all

Please suggest ur solutions to this case

Ice cool private ltd was an ice cream manufacturing company employing about 100 persons including persons at various level of management. Because of increasing business, the company needed to strengthen its accounting procedure, particularly through computerization. For this purpose the company decided to hire a new manager designated as assistant business manager. The company invited applications through press advertisement. After receiving the applications it appointed a selection committee consisting of members of top management including business manager Rakesh. The committee interviewed several candidates and finally selected Bishwash as new assistant business manager. Bishwash was neat well dressed & quite articulate

Bishwash joined the co immediately and started working very hard. He used to put extra efforts and even worked during holidays as he did not have any family responsibility. He gained the reputation of being a dedicated and competent employee, his strong point being his knowledge of accounting and computer system. He was reporting to rakesh the business manager who was quite impressed with his working.

At the time the co had no computer system and its accounting procedures were in need of improvement. Anil the MD of the co directed rakesh to get needful done. since most of accounting work related to sales no separate accounting department existed and the work was performed under the direction of bus manager. Bishwash was mainly appointed to strengthen the accounting aspects of the bus. He was asked it prepare a project so that necessary changes can be made. In order to get the first hand information about the problem, bishwash started meeting with anil without the knowledge of rakesh. There was no attempt to have secret meeting. Anil would just cal bishwash in for a report without bothering to tell rakesh. The management team whose members were with the co for a quite long period had formed a tight-knit group and appeared satisfied with the co. they all wlrk together and the company prospered inspite of fierce competition.

The meetings between anil & bishwash continued & rakesh was gradually losing contact with the project and its progress. In fact bishwash was almost reporting directly to the MD though he was placed under bus manager and retained his title of assistant bus manager. Rakesh was bow visibly upset over the development and was also concerned about bishwash spreading share of influence. He started feeling down in the company.

Ques:

1. wat is the nature of problem in this case?

2. could rakesh have prevented bishwash assumption of power? If so how specifically could it have been done?

3. Suggest the courses of action now available to anil, rakesh, bishwash?

1 Answer of your first question is that although Bishwash has done the things in true spirit and do not have any hidden agenda. But he destroyed the company built up.It show the MD the ineffectiveness of Mr Rakesh ,may it is done unknowingly and It make insecurities in the mind of Mr Rakesh and leads to upset of Rakesh.
2. Answer of 2nd ----Rakesh need to prevent Bishwash assumption of power. It need to be done in the presence of MD ,such that there is no ill feeling between each other. It need to handle little politically. Like first Rakesh shows his problem with MD and then make a joint discussion.
3.Answer of 3rd Question-----Now the option is that either MD take the initiative and make a joint discussion and distribute the responsibility again as it done earlier or Either Mr Rakesh told the MD his displeasure in politicize way such that issue can be sorted out.
The theme line of business is that Loyalty pays more than short span of hard work .

Neither from point of view of Organisation, nor for all the three gentleman involved, the 3 questions raised would never fetch a right answer leace aside solution.
All the 3 questions lacks perspective and objectivity i.e. who wants to achieve what? Whose problem is this?
If its simply nobody's problem, let the things take its shape normally...........

Hello Rohini Senthil,
The computerisation has been done successfully.
The company is doing well.
Only Rakesh is having problem.
He has to learn get updated and also win the confidence of MD.
Otherwise he has to look out for another job.
