There is some very good advice that has been given here by other members. Patience is a virtue that one must inculcate.

If no assignment is being offered it could be because of a number of reasons - the simplest and most likely being that currently there is indeed no work! If you have joined just about a month back, it would mean August. In many companies that is the beginning of a lean season as far as HR / recruitment is concerned. So you need to try and understand what is the reason. Only one of these two things could be happening:

1. Just as you do not have any assignment, maybe other members of HR team too are relatively free. Then you have company and need not worry too much that you do not have work and others have. Spend time with them and understand more about the company, the work they do and what are the expectations from you.

2. Most other members of the HR team are very busy with their assignments. In that case offer to help them. Find out what you can do for them so that they are able to delegate some work to you. It will be a win-win for both. You'll get work and they'll be able to "relax" a bit!

This is also a good time for you to explore other departments. Meet more people in the company an learn about the HR related issues in other departments and how you can help solve those.

If nothing else, at least in your next interview you'll be able to say that you studied and offered solutions to manage HR related issues in many departments of your company!

What you make of the situation is what will make you.

Hi Sathish ,
I have faced the same problem when i first joined a company as HR Executive for almost four months, as you are starting your carer as a HR, Patience is one of the important tool that you have to learn. Apart from that keen observation regarding the day to day work process of your seniors & colegues, which will make you learn many things start intracting with them and helping them doing small things which will end up in big, As you are a fresher getting jobs in pools is difficult , you be there for some time if same thing continues you may quit. i am sure you will be deputed with your job role of luck

Resigning will only affect your career and they are not going to loose anything. Keep yourself occupied by learning the Company policies, Normal HR Practice and work related to profile for which you were recruited. To share my experience in one of my previous employment when literally I felt same like you. The company was in the way of moving to a new software which I showed much interest and tried to attract and grab good opportunity. Never be tired of trying as the effort would always give the true benefit
I am searching a job in recruitment and i am facing interview. and also getting selected. its fine but some organizations are saying to deposit the original certificate for 1year. Is it good???????
Do not give them any document good companies never ask for such kind of securities. Satish
Dear Satish,
Its OK & It can happen especially in bigger organizations. But this time has to be utilized for trainings / self developement / better understand company's business.
What happens is the vacancy gets created, by seeing some problems / work related requirements, but after you join even other people must know / realize that now there is somebody present to solve those problems / do the work.
So it takes time. So do not blame anyone / not even your boss & utilize the time for self developements.

The best way to get of a problem is to confront it. Right now your fear of being jobless is taking over you which is why you are discussing your issues in a forum. \"Nothing wrong with that\" but you need to understand and talk to your boss and ask him humbly why are you not being utilized? If being an HR professional your boss is behaving so short sighted, it clearly means that he is gunning for job security or he does not have people management skills.
Remeber- a person works only for 2 reasons (1) To learn and grow (2) to earn a lively hood.
Choose what you want to follow and act accordingly. I mean if you want to earn just sit tight till you either get work or a new opportunity. If it\'s to learn and grow then make sure you learn a lesson from this job.

Hi Satish,
All the seniors have given the best of advices and suggestions and you have to work on the areas indicated for getting settled with the new job.
I appriciate the replies given by the seniors and thank them for being here with us.
As regards to my reply - Khud hi ko kar buland itna ki, har kwaish se pahle khuda bande se puche, ki bol teri raza kya hai.

I agree with the opinions expressed that resigning is not the solution.
You should not keep your busy with the internet as this will send up a wrong message that you are contented to stay without work. This, in no way , will help you but will certainly go against you. You should try to go down/up the line to seek work and in an unambiguous manner to show yourself as a willing worker. Also go through duties,if any, mentioned in the letter of your appointment and try to execute at your level to the extent possible and keep in touch with your not higher ups reflecting an impression that you have not come to learn but to work. You may seek guidance, if and when you get stuck at a place.
Pl. do not lose hope, such things, usually, happen when you join the first job.
Besides views aleady expressed, the above in tandem is going to help you.

I agree with all the comments which the fresher will faced during the time of work as an HR. But we need to understand one thing firstly we need to evaluate ourselves and then asking for the task. And at the initial stage no one is going to make the profitable objectives for the company. Create an healthy environment in the organization from your side. We are at the stage of learning so we need to focus on that area. All the best for your future..
