Hi,
A couple of ideas for you to consider:
1) Watch the news in English.
2) Read English newspapers and books.
3) Try to converse as often as possible with others in English. Preferably, speak with someone who manages English better than you do and ask him/her to explain things you don't understand.
4) Buy an English dictionary - Oxford is good enough or log onto www.dictionary.com.
5) Buy a Wren & Martin book for correct grammar.
As you would realize, the above points can be used to learn any language. All the best.

I suggest reading newspapers and trying to summarize in your own style on paper 4 to 5 pages daily. Compare your summary with the actual news to identify differences. Rewrite it multiple times.
This practice benefits in two ways:
1) Stay updated with news.
2) Improve your written English skills.
This exercise will enhance your written skills before focusing on speaking skills. As you progress, try incorporating new words into your speech. Learn the meanings of words and form sentences to help remember them.

Hi Shiva,
These are the tips that I used to improve my English:
1. Stand in front of a mirror and read the newspaper loudly.
2. Always keep a pocket dictionary handy and make reading the dictionary your habit. Whenever you have time, you can read your pocket dictionary.
3. Never try to translate.
All the best. I hope this will work out for you.

Hello Siva,
Our HR friends have already given you many valuable tips. I would like to share a few things that I myself applied in order to improve my English.
If you want to converse in a better manner, one thing is most important and that is that you should "THINK IN ENGLISH". We generally think in Hindi, and when we need to speak in English, we tend to translate it which takes a lot of time, making it difficult to talk fluently.
I would also suggest you improve upon your grammar first. Like our other friends have suggested, you can seek help from books, newspapers, and news sources.
Just be determined, and you'll surely be successful. 🙂
