My current designation is Executive-HR, but my MD has suggested a new designation, "Administrator," in order to coordinate with other administrative work in the office. However, won't this "administrator" title be potentially harmful to my career prospects? Please give me your suggestions.

I don't think so, but it's going to be an added advantage for your profile. Please carry on with your HR work, including this administrator job. It will add weight to your resume as well.

Because I have always known the progression in the HR department to be: Executive HR, Senior Executive HR, Assistant Manager HR, Manager HR, General Manager HR. But where does "administrator" fit into this progression?

Yes, you can use Executive HR/Administrator as a designation. When you progress further in your career, this administrative knowledge will be an added advantage for you. You could become an HR Manager someday, and this administrative knowledge will also benefit you in other ways. So, don't focus solely on designations.
