Manager - Hr & Admin

Thread Started by #ragsydagr8

Hi Folks
I have recently joined as a HR & Admin Manager for a Group of Companies based in Maseru, Lesotho (Southern Africa). The group has more than 6 different companies. Manufacturing, Retail, Property, Construction are just a few of the businesses we do. The problem I am facing is that there is no corporate structure, policies and procedures. The whole show is run by one person and his two sons.
I have to start from scratch with regards to devising policies, procedures and structure. So what I am looking for is samples of documents and formats of procedures that could be modified to suit my company requirements. In spite of having of some experience in HR, I seem to have run to a dead end. Would anyone be able to help me out.

Dear Raghu,
Your challenge is not in framing polices or process, rather your challenge is to make these three people understand the need of structured approach.
Unless you make them convinced about what you want to do. You will not success.
Keep updating and feel free to write and discuss.

Dear Prasenjit
Thank you for the reply. I have already emphasized the need for a structured approach. The challenge I am facing now is the Restructuring Process. (not only in terms of HR & Admin, but also in terms of Finance, Payroll, Purchasing, Sales, Marketing, Operations, etc)...
What I now need are sample policies and procedures which can be modified to keep the company running till a tailor-made system of polices & procedures can be drawn up.

Dear Raghu,
Check out the sample HR policies in the attached file.
For Finance, Purchase, Sales, Marketing, Operations, I would suggest to consult experts from the respective field.
What I understand that there is no process at all in any area. So in that case the best thing you can do, if you have the authority, implement an ERP (e.g.: SAP, Oracle or even customised).
With the implementation of an ERP you can a structured approach.
For any further clarification feel free to write or discuss.
