Dear All,
What type of gloves should be given to a operator using portable grinding machine ? To get the answer of this question first we must know what type of hazard involve for the operator in operation of grinding machine. according to me it is:
1. Sharpe edges of the cutting wheel
2. metal sparks and heat
3. vibration
4. electric shock
Now for the first two hazards we have to go for leather gloves and for electrical shock hazard we have to go for rubber gloves.
Now my question is as per factories act what type of gloves should be given to the grinder?

Gentleman,
Use Leather Gloves – with Caution: Wear snug fitting gloves to avoid snagging on abrasive wheel or wire brush. I don’t think there is some special gloves available for portable grinding machines in market.
You must also pay attention to your personal clothing. The essential rule is to not wear anything loose that could get caught in the machine. Scarves, ties, loose hair, and dangling jewelry are dangerous. If you’re wearing a long-sleeved shirt, button it at the wrist.
You also have to look out for the wheel itself. Grinding wheels are surprisingly delicate. They can be easily damaged if you handle them carelessly. It’s a good idea to store new ones carefully in a dry area close to the grinding operation. When you have to carry one, do it very carefully. Take special care not to drop it or to bump it against anything.
Hope its helps.
