I too am of the opinion that you, being a woman employee drawing a gross salary of Rs.15226/- do not fall within the incometax bracket. You can check it with HR.

Dear jaya,
India Income tax slabs 2012-2013 for Female tax payers
Income tax slab (in Rs.) Tax
0 to 2,00,000 No tax
2,00,001 to 5,00,000 10%
5,00,001 to 10,00,000 20%
Above 10,00,000 30%
As per this slab if you are getting more than 16667.00/- per month then TDS will be applicable but you are getting 15226.00/-. It is not correct. Please get the clarification form HR.

your take home HR 15.xxx thousand... What's your gross salary and do you have bonus or incentives. Tax deducted at source is applicable for bonus or incentive. Tax slab rates and tax deducted at source slab rates are different. Tell me your gross salary for me to calculate.
Jaya
If salary is 15226/- then your salary is not taxable.
If they are deducting TDS @ 1 % means they are treating you on contract not salary.
Please ask them under which sec. they are depositing TDS deducted from you. and please let me know so I can guide you.
