Dear all,
Please guide me in OT calculation, as per rule employer should pay OT as double the rate of daily wages.
One of our worker worked for 4 hrs on National Holiday, then how to calculate his pay:
1 - 8hrs (National Holiday) + 4 hrs OT = 12hrs pay
2- 8hrs (National Holiday) + 8hrs OT (4hrs x 2) = 16hrs pay
Please help me very urgently.

Dear Meenakshi
For calculating OT the number of hours worked during the week is relevant. How many hours he had worked during the week. Was he given any substituted holiday for working on the national holiday?

Dear Ms.Meenakshi
Though the worker has worked for only four hours on the national holiday he is entitled to twice the ordinary rate of wages for that day as he had not been given a substituted holiday for working on a national holiday. The quantum will be wages for the national holiday plus one day wages that is equivalent to two days wages for working on a national holiday when substituted holiday is not given.
