Dear Bipin Gautam

You may try to organize following campaigns:

1. Near Miss Reporting Enhancing Campaign

It can be organized among the group of workmen at different locations/sections... Make them aware about the need of reporting near miss, the reward they will get if report near miss, etc... Make suitable posters showing the pictorial representation of what is a near miss and display at vantage places... Make a plan of discussing only about Near Miss for a period of 7-10 days in each tool box talks being organizing at your site...

In our plant we are rewarding Rs. 200 per near miss reporting by all employees... One negative aspect I feel about this rewarding scheme is that people tend to report fake near misses... You may take care of preventing this to happen by suitable control measures at your end...

2. Hold Hand Rail Campaign

Seems simple one... But this will be one of the great example of demonstrated commitment... Suppose your leaders (May be managers or higher executives) who cares for safety and demanding safety from the workforce and they not using hand rails, what the message it's get conveying... You may make relevant posters and display in the starting point of all staircases saying "Use handrails while ascending & descending"... Take this as a topic for the tool box talk for a specific period... Circulate mails on this subject to all your employees...

3. SWP Awareness Campaign

I believe you might have some sort of review mechanism of the work going to be executed in your construction site... Like in our plant we have a system of making Safe Work Procedure for all the tentative jobs... So we conduct SWP awareness campaign in our plant... Taking different examples each day and explain to workers... We have safety message displaying boards at each section in our plant.. During the period of this campaign, displaying SWP in local language and make the workers go through the SWP... Discussion the same during TBT...We are even including workers in making effective SWP for the job to be executed...

4. Use of Seat Belt in For Wheelers Campaign

5. Use of Crash Helmet while riding Two Wheeler

6. Don't use Mobile While Driving, Etc.

7. Organizing On the Spot Quiz for Workers

This will help to analyze the effectiveness of all your efforts... How much the workers been learned from all the campaigns...Just keep some small gift as a token gift and give on the spot...

These are few tips... A lot can be organized... Hope our other members will come up with other great ideas... Do let us know what all you succeed in executing or executed already in your area of work...
