hello HR folks
Greetings for the day!!!
Please help with below situation.
In our organization we were doing appraisals annually but there is a problem Example : if any employee is joining on September 2011 we are doing there appraisal every year in September. Instead of this now we want to steam line our process and want to do all appraisal in April every year. we want to come over from this chaos because every month one or two employees have there appraisal pending. How can we do this.
Please help me in this situation
Thanx

You can do the same. Companies can always change rules and regulations at will. However, if your apprisal is linked to them getting performance bonus, then pay some prorata compensation.
As you have not given enough information about the organisation and its scheme, we can provide only general guidelines in this forum.

It is possible and when you stremline, ensure that are treated equally. When such shifts are introduced in appraisal period, we apply Prorata principle.

1.A person who has joined on 1st April is assed for a full term and he will be given full increase after the appraisal.

2. An employee joining in June, will be appraised for 10 months and he will get an increase on prorata You can apply this formula 10*full increase/12

3.This should be done for all employees in the year when you switch from current practice to new practice

4. New employees will be assed on completion of one year, In the susequent year they will bring under this practice and apply prorata increase

5. You also may have to bring in a rule stating that new employees getting confirmed after September will not be considered for review in April next. However when they are brought under the common April month review, you need to give them increase which will be more than 12 month as they would have completed more than 12 months by then Some organisation do not apply prorata principle for the new employees

I have shifted in this manner smoothly in atleast two Companies in the past and this has worked out very well

Thanks for your reply but i am still confused about what we can do for those who are getting there appraisal done on diffrent different months. Let me take an example.
I am working with xyz company from last 10 years and i joined on 1 october 2000. Every year my company is doing my appraisal on 1st october but now if comapny want to shift it to April how can they shift what we can do to employees because they will feel demotivated how can we convince them what strategy we can apply.
Please help me!!!
Thanks

I am attaching a worksheet showing the increase on prorata. From this, you will find that the employe does not lose any money in the year under review
This has been used with success across and this is the only solution as it maintains parity
You can show this calculation to employees to convince them
Thanks
