My dear Friends,

None of us can forget the brutal murder of Mr.Roy J.George, VP (HR), Pricol Limited, Coimbatore in 2009 during a labor unrest.

I am sorry to inform all my fraternity here, my dearest friend Mr.Rajarajeswaran, DGM (HR), Madras Cements, RR Nagar with whom I have close relationship in conducting training programs for his staff and officers, was waylaid and murdered yesterday night by some unknown persons. His wife was also injured and hospitalized.

Mr.Rajarajeswaran is a very knowledgeable and dynamic HR professional who exercised authority and influence with almost all who come into contact with him. Occasions were many for me to watch him in action.

I used to tell him not to be so harsh with people and apply clever tactics at all times. As HR professional, it is not just our duty to satisfy our top brass at the cost of inviting rancor and displeasure to any one especially the workmen / unions which he did not appear to have appreciated.

Still the reason(s) for the murder is not known. However, my humble request to the youth who take up HR as their profession is that please use both your Heart & Brain wisely in handling labor issues. We may be smart in our move - but it should never fetch us misfortune in any form especially bringing our life itself to an end.

Challenging targets, compulsions from the top, non co-operation from the people down the line, Government Officers, Politicians, Public (CSR) may transform us to become a programmed HR machine to deliver goods for money and recognition - please apply your heart while dealing a few ticklish and burning issues as we have a family for which we work and we deal with human beings. We should apply empathy and sympathy in every action of ours.

I lost one of my best friends now in the realms of HR. This should not continue any more.

The latest news says Mr.Rajarajeswaran was killed by one of the workmen who was also an Union Leader and who is known to me very much.
Suspension of the above workman led to this murder. A wordy duel ended up in this murder. What to say?

Dear Mr.Ganesh Ramachandran,
Shocked to hear the news. A very good human being and a Friend. As I have been in different sectors in HR, in the recent years, I was not in touch with him.As you have mentioned though we have pressure from the top management, we should handle the situation tactfully. We should aspire for Success but not at the cost of our lives.
I pray to the almighty to give strength to his family to bear the irreparable loss and may his soul rest in Peace.
