Dear HR folks,

I am working in a mid-size real estate company in a metro city as part of HR Operations . I have spent considerable time in this company and made lot of changes in their operation process. Slowly I got in to the comfort zone and didnít want to move out. However, many seniors in HR field warned me abt growth as an HR here , and true to an extent, there is no HR Management but it is all about benefit administration department in this company. Their is no good HR practices nor initiatives encouraged.

Due to increase in internal politics , lack of recognition within the department, I decided to move on. Searched for job for all most 8 Ė 9 months , but hardly got any good openings / response from companies ( outside real estate sector).

Finally I have got an offer in one of the biggest company in India as Generalist to take care of talent management & engagement, performance etc. in Technical Industry. Itís one of the best company to work as per many reports.

But the problem is :

1. Its same salary what I am getting now

2. Need to move to different city

3. Will be moving out of comfort zone what I am having now

Pls advice , if I shld accept this and join them

The very first thing is that not a single company/organization you can find without politics, also this is cant be the reason to look for a change.

As you already have accepted above that you have made many changes which are already been accepted which made you feel good and encourage you but because of few things said by few people, made you feel to move on. And you have ignored the reality that you have done a good job and can do a lot.

It is acceptable that with mid-sized real estate companies are not having a proper HR department/system but the future need/ requirement and development cant be ignored too.

Second, the offer you have in your hand sounds good to me and you must not bear this lose. I wanna congratulate you for this good opportunity. And the problems that you have specified here are not acceptable to me. I donít thing there should be any problem in relocating to another city with the same salary package if it is going to give you a sound career growth options which are really important for you at this stage. And what comfort zone you are talking about. And do you really think that you can get a good work atmosphere in future like you have in your current company. Good working environment canít be obtained but create my dear. What you have done here for our current employer and that made your feel good, you can do the same with your future even you can do lot if you want as it seems to me you can. But the basic thing which is really important for you is SELF RECOLONIZATION and SELF-CONFIDENCE

Finally, you need to accept this offer immediately and do never allow these problems to surround you or bother you anyhow. Do never care about these things and just need to look forward to your good future. I am wishing you a very best of luck for your good and new start.

Hope I made myself clear to you.

I can understand the dilema.Being in a place where your talents and ideas are not being challenged is bad for career advancement,If we look at realestate as an industryscope of HR is more towards statutary compliance anr pay rolls{correct me if i am wrong}.Thats the reason you are feeling management is not supporting your Ideas and also you are in comfort zone.

comming to your New offer, as you said it is an IT company, so the role of People Manager is higher than your current position.

In whatever capacty you may join atleast here your talents are constantly being challenged. This will be good for you as an individual and also if you perform you will have a chance to do what ever you may like.

Another important point here is it will open many such opportunities in future also (may be In IT or in your realestate sector).

About your Salary and relocation you need to take a call on this based on your current financial commitments and the needs.

Today No city is bad and too good to saty.

Hope I have fecilitated you in making a decision
