explain problems with having many organisation levels. What is span of management? what are the factores influencing wide and narrow span of managemant?
i am doing Hr diploma and i get a paper for that and want to submit the assignment for the same

Hi Arjun,

The only problem that I can see in, if you have many professionals working in a group in different organization levels is the COST, It is costly to maintain this kind of management. That is why only big companies does this. If you see a small company with this kind of organizational chart, no offend, but I find it fool and arrogant.

But the advantage and purpose of this kind of organization is the operation of your company can run smoothly, because each individual has his own task (division of labor). Each problem (big or small) can be solved at ease. In lay mans term, If a company has a problem in hiring, accounting, facilities, etc. and it was assign only to 1 (multiple task)or 2 person. Then it may have difficulty or it will be hard for him to accomplish his job or find the solution to its problem.

Span of management is a basic or fundamental function of an organization. In simple term, how many individual report to a manager. Or vice versa, How many staff a manager manage. Span of Management may also be called Span of Responsibilities.
