Hello all,
please can anyone help me with tips on how HR unit can foster communication and cooperation with other strategic business units in an organization. i have been assigned to make presentation to my board in that respect
Thank you as i count on your supports

Dear Mr. Yusuf,
Could you be kind enough to share your ideas. I hope, you must be having something in your mind. Feel free to share whatever you know, even you feel its not a valid point.
Looking forward to hear from you at the earliest.
With profound regards

thanks for the promppt response.
my idea on the assignment are:
1. Analyse the current communication structure to reveal challenges associated with it
2. Determine why there is no desired cooperation from other units
3. Engagement of the stakeholders- by organising a forum where there can be interaction. this type of forum will ensure that HR Constantly connect with them, understand their challenges, communicate openly and clearly stating the rationale behind strategic business decisions.it will serve to reinforce the benefits that the organisation will derive from such cooperation
4. Have a constant on going communication either quarterly meetings, newsletters , emails as a way of strengthening the bond
These are my thoughts, kindly help to embelish them, the presentation to my board comes up this thursday and i need to make an impression please.
Thank you sir

Dear Mr. Yusuf,

After reading your post, i truly regret to say that, your success ratio is "ZERO" because, your core focus is on IMPRESSING people. Perhaps, you may be demotivated by reading my statement, but, believe me or not, it is the fact. I would suggest you to focus on DELIVERING AND EXPRESSING CORE INFORMATION supporting your mission/agenda. Unless, you focus on EXPRESSING YOUR THOUGHTS, by utilizing EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION & PRESENTATION STRATEGIES, there are very less chances for your board members to get IMPRESSED.

In the process of impressing people, we often forget to COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY. COMMUNICATION is a great skill and its all about EXCHANGING INFORMATION, IDEAS followed by FEEDBACK/RESPONSE.

If you truly want HRD to foster HEALTHY & EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION STRATEGIES, kindly focus on the following points

3) LIMITATIONS OF HRD - At times departments expectations are too high and its difficult to cater them.

4) COMMUNICATION AGENDA - Define SUBJECT for COMMUNICATION rather allowing other units to approach HRD for small issues. Top management need to authorize department heads to take ETHICAL/UNBIASED DECISION at their level with a instruction to consult and discuss with HRD, if the situation is really criticial.

5) COMMUNICATION MODE - MEETINGS(how often), SUGGESTION CARDS. For a change, you can plan for business lunch or dinner with various unit heads. This will help you to develop better relationship and bridge the gap, if any.

6) List out the employees - HIERARCHY WISE, who are allowed to participated in the meetings, scheduled.

7) EXPECTATIONS - You may ask BUSINESS UNIT HEADS to share their EXPECTATIONS from HRD and, also share HRD's EXPECTATIONS from respective business units. This will make everyone clear about their ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Try your best to reach the level of perfection(70% - 80% will do) without spending more time on activities. Focus on self development by measuring your productivity.

I am not a expert. If i had hurt your feelings, kindly forgive me. If you have queries to be clarified, kindly do email me.

With a profound regards

You are most welcome....
Don't forget to deliver your presentation with a rythm(flow). Your aim is to present relevant information while expressing the facts rather just hoping to impress your directors......
Good Luck
