Why should an organization spend on recruiting agency rather than job portals?
My company is planning to remove the third party for recruiting and emphasizing on excessive usage of portals.
What are the pros and cons of the same.
Ajit

Dear Ajit,

I have been working on both formats since a long time now and i hope my feedback will be beneficial for you.

Advantage of Job Portal:

1. Easy to access.

2. Good for mass recruiting.

3. Large nos of options of candidates.

4. Economical.

Disadvantages of Job Portal:

1. A specialized person needed to do shortlisting from large nos of resume.

2. Many candidates apply just for sake of applying, very few are genuinly interested.

3. Even after lining up of candidates for interview there is no assurance they will come for interview and proper follow up has to be followed.

4. It is time consuming.

5. Strictly not a good option for filling senior / confidential positions>

Advantages of Recruitment agencies:

1. They have good contacts with candidates so easy to contact suitable candidate.

2. Good for senior position Head Hunting.

3. Candidates generally turn up after lining up for interview.

4. Only those candidates apply who are genuinly interested.

5. Easy to do reference check.

6. Even if candidates leaves after joining we have a replacement.

Disadvantages of Recruiting agencies:

1. Lots of agencies in market so to point out good agencies is a big task.

2. Generally agencies specialize in a particular branch of recruitment.

3. It is bit costly.

Dear Mr.Sandeep,
Even recruitment agencies are also recruiting through job portals only. Then how can u say these two points.
2.Many candidates apply just for sake of applying, very few are genuinly interested.
5.Strictly not a good option for filling senior / confidential positions>
Then how will they get the senior profiles?

Dear Mr. Siv Ks,
First of all thanks for taking interest in my reply.
I wish to clarify that when i am speaking of Recruiting agencies i am specifying those agencies which are into this business for a long time and working by true heart.
So all those recruiting agencies which are working professionally have own bank of resume & some of them are guiding candidates from the day the candidate joined his/her first job.
I have clearly mentioned in disadventages of Recruiting Agencies that:
1. Lots of agencies in market so to point out good agencies is a big task.

Hi, Any possibility is to work without job portals for HR folks ? If anybody crossed across this kindly share the knowledge and thoughts
There are some roles that job boards can't fill, there are some that job boards can make cheaper! Recruiting is not a binary function. Sometimes you have to bite both the pills :)
