You lack confidence and having fear of public speaking (assuming). Just gain your confidence and put your thoughts together while giving any presentation or addressing the group.

Presenting in front of audience is not something most of us do day in and day out. It is therefore natural that it takes more than good preparation and practice to deliver an effective presentation before an audience. Obviously it does help if one has prepared very well and has rehearsed the presentation for it adds to one’s confidence and the rapport one builds with the audience. The fact that you are confident about your communications skills makes your ability to deliver and effective presentation even stronger.

So then we need to focus on delivering an impactful presentation. A couple of points need to be borne in mind in this connection.

It helps if one can analyze the audience expected e.g. younger audiences will be more inclined to words and methods that connect with them like use of their own lingo, references to technology etc. Older audiences would be more inclined to identify with facts, figures and a conservative style.

The duration of the presentation has an impact on how one adapts the talk. Shorter presentations would require crisp and to the point delivery. Longer presentations would necessitate involvement of the audience to keep their interest alive and to get them engaged with the presentation.

A good assessment of your personal style of communication would help structure your delivery. Don’t attempt humour if that is not something one is comfortable with; on the other hand ensure that one does not inflict too much of facts and figures if it is not properly supported by some decisive interpretations.

One must understand one’s own confidence building strategies and use it effectively e.g. dressing appropriately, having an engaging warm up line to begin, having the right fillers to rekindle audience interest .

Finally do remember that each presentation is a new beginning so the rules cannot be taken for granted but one needs to work on it again and again and with each presentation one will keep improving.
