Hi,
Have resigned with an company without serving notice period in probition period, due to family reasons and have sent the mail to my manager regards my resignation.
Today have got a mail from HR as mentioned below
Sub: Your resignation via email dated 28-Jan-12.
We are in receipt of your resignation via email. We wish to bring to your notice that you have not given the proper notice as per terms of letter of employment by Company. You have also not handed over the charges as on date.
We have been trying to reach you on your Mobile No XXX But you have not responded to our calls. This dereliction of duty is not acceptable. The company has suffered loss on account of your abrupt action.
You are hereby notified that company will take all possible action against you including legal action to protect the interest of the company if you have not responded to this letter within 5 days from the date of serving this letter.
Please advise me, how to proceed.

Dear Srikanth,
First of all you have to accept that you have carried out a wrong practice while leaving your organization.
Now incase the HR has replied to you, i suggest that you reply to them with your concern of leaving...
If you do not reply to your HR within the stipulated time, necessary legal action can be taken against you...

It is a good ethic to reply to the HR with your feedback for leaving.
Incase you do not reply following are the consequences:
1. Your reputation in the Company will not be good and this may further hamper
your relations with the new employer once your new employer does reference
check with your previous organisation.
2. There can be a case filed against you in labour court.
