We are a new company and want to hire staff.
How can we verify their employment. We want to do the verification ourselves.
I want to know:
1. What all things we need to verify, and
2. how can we verify those details (some of our candidates who are currently India have worked in USA & UK, so we need to verify out of country also).

dear its good if you are serious towards doing the reference checks of the employees you want to hire.
there are couple of ways for doing so..
if a candidate comes to you, just get the name & contact no. of the reporting authority of that candidate in present company & in previous company.
you can call to the name & number given by the candidate and may ask its performance, behavior, relations with colleagues, punctuality, sincerity, if the position is related with money or payment or cheque related then you can ask about the same.
for getting more better feedback you can get the contact details of the company in which candidate worked & get a more better performance & behavior feedback from the HR personnel.... as they are the people who do performance appraisal...
once you done this verbally then either send them a mail for getting what they said in written or send them letter.
same can be done in case of either companies in india or abroad.
