Dear Pramod,
Some organisation take the employees on contract for 6 months and if they are satisfied with the performance they will take the person in their company role.
Certain organisation go only for contract position but to close the position immediately they inform the person to join and give false promise.
i dont want to debate on what may be the case.
If your present organisation is good for learning and you are getting enough support through the manager. you can continue the job since you have just started your career.
Learn and equip yourself so that you will get a job in the near future.
No need to worry of job security since today even people in organisation roll cannot say their role is permanent.

I don’t think anybody makes such promises to employees or new hires. Every promise is made on a condition of ‘satisfactory performance’. Instead of pestering him to take you on roll, ask him about your performance of last six months. Secondly, any contract is for a fixed term; therefore, if your term of contract was of six months, it has already expired. Ask your manager to renew the contract.
I hope this will help.

I fully agree with Mr.Sanjeev. First you must ask for the renewal of contract as it is already expired.
Check thorughinternal sources whether your position is going to be continued or it has been created as a support an overburdened employee.
How ever my advise is to look for a change and if you find a suitable opening for your skills you can leave and go.
Being in an organisation on contract basis for an year or so is not a taboo for any organisation so do not feel bad that you are in a weak wicket in the Job market
