hi all,
i am a 24 year old mba student, have prior expierence in sales and operations. i am now pursuing my mba and specialising in HR. i am inclined towards working in the training and development. please recommend if i should opt for this as my major in final year or instead take recruitment and selection and then switch to training after grabbing more years of experience. i am due for my internship this summer and am a little tensed.

I have a profound interest in the training and department, but i am little confused with the growth in it. Because i am sure i have to start my career in HR with recruitments only. And it will be only after few years of experience that i will be able to move to training. I am in my 1st year of MBA and very confused about what to opt for. I am due for my internship this summer and trying to make a mark in the training itself so that i have an extra edge during the campus placement.

Hey Devika,
If you have interest in T&D, I think you can follow your heart. I just attended a workshop in NLP and one of the things I learnt is that there are no- I have to- in our lives. So do not be sure that you have to start your career in recruitment.
If you want to start as a trainer and you really have the passion for it... you can start as a trainer. I am in the process of setting my training organization... send me your resume. Let us have a telephonic discussion and if you have it in you... then I shall be able to guide you towards your goal.
Cheers and good luck!

Hi Atul,
NLP workshop must be interesting, It was in my course in first semester. I found it really interesting and thats how i was adamant on focussing on T&D.
I shall send you my resume asap.
Thanks for the advice.
Regards,
Devika
