Is there any difference between OD & Talent Management & Learning and Development. How is TM linked with OD? Is OD a subset of TM or vice versa? Kindly share your thoughts.

Talent Management refer also to Human Capital Management, refers to the highly skills workers, developing and retaining current workers to meet current and future business objectives. While OD is planned process of developing an organization to be more effective in accomplishing its desired goals, its activities: team-building, Training and development, Talent, coaching, Leadership.

Talent Management is the first step, wherein the organisation spots talents through scientific methods like 9 blockers, assessments etc. After the talent is spotted you need them to be groomed according to the organisation's needs, this is were Leadership and organisation development team comes in.
Learning and development is a department where you could have OD, TM and general training as sub departments.

OD is basically a part of HR covering entire organization for development be it operations, Supply chain management, production, and like wise other departments. OD is broader term with main activity carried by OD consultants or HR department. Talent management is a sub set of OD. When organization works on OD then internal employees are involved to carry out the process whereas when we talk about talent management then it can be both internal and external. Internal talent management would involve training and development, Succession planning, compensation management etc. Where as OD would covers international functions where functional aspect of any departments attention for OD.

OD is the review and development of an organizational culture that will assist with the implementation of the vision and strategies. OD is a function of both strategy and HR. Recently there has begun a trend to place HR as a function of OD, but there is no 'rule' about how they fit together. Talent management is often seen as part of OD because it is concerned with the acquisition, development and retention of employees you want to keep on board due to their enhanced ability to help you deliver now and in future on your vision and strategies. Learning and Development is concerned with ALL employees (including those you consider 'talented') and the development of skills for their current positions and for any future roles you may assess them as able to move into.

Organisational Development includes all aspects as brought out earlier. OD is a Strategic concept and depends on Org Strategy /concepts, whereas Talent Management ( TM) could be a more project/operations based idea. for eg a talent management activity for say marketing/ sales of a new car model would involve talent manaagement ( trg n development/ shuffling/staffing/contracting) ( which would involve less no of employees for limited time), ....................whereas a car manufacturer entering a new / added domain/ region( say Europe) with whole range of its products may like to go for OD or strategising/planning for thw whole org ( nor to handle Europe additinally) for assembly/ Business developemnt/marketing/sales/inventory/HR/finance etc
