Hi
I recentkly joined a company.
I accepected the offer based on the information provided on the offer letter.
the appointment letter which was given to me 3 months after joining, is very different from the offer letter contents.
for example:
a.) Probationperiod: 3 mons in offer vs 6 months in appointment letter
b.) notice period: 1 month vs 3 months
and many more.
so..my question to you is:
> dosent this border on illegal and fradulant practice?
> I am sure its unethical.
So, how do i tell me firm that this appointment letter is not accepectable to me.
plpz advice.
I took a 25% pay cut .. thinking it was a great opportunity. ..:-(

I accept Meetu's suggestion. First of all let me know have you received and acknowledged the appointment letter, if so you accepted all the terms and conditions mentioned in the appointment letter even though it is different from the offer letter. If you have not confirmed your acceptance then take the copy of the offer letter along with the appointment letter and approach the HR and find out the reasons there of.
Ask them to issue the copies of the circulars / notices related to the service conditions, in general the management need to communicate to all the employees in writing regarding the change in service conditions. You also need to find out whether the same changes in the service conditions are applicable to all or only for you, if it is so then you can raise an issue with the HR & better through you HOD.
Pl. don't compromise and at the same time deal the matter politely and professionally.

Dear
This is illegal as well as unethical practice.
things should be made clear before joining of an employee.offer letter
may not have full details but appointment letter to be issued immediately
after joining.

thanks kamesh & meetu.
I have no yet signed the letter...but the HR is forcing me to sign it.
This is a new firm that has just opened office in india. So all the employees have joined this firm in the last 2 months.
To answer your questions, yes The changes have been for all the employees. But they came to light only after they started issuing the appoitment letter.
there was no communication by the management and the HR says she has talked to the lawyer and only after that they have made the changes.
The point is... i didnt accept the offer for whats on appointment letter.. i accepected the offer based on what i was present at the time of joining.
I find this whole issue pretty unsettling and unethical.
regards
