myself working as management trainee in a manufacuring company in Chennai, i am BE(ECE) with MBA HR & OPERATIONS. my company has assured me that they will promote me as junior officer HR after 1 year. but my pay is very low i.e 10 k per month. i want to know , is this right career to proceed? I request all my citeHR seniors to guide me, I will be grateful to you!

You have started the career in the right note... just few things you need to keep in mind to ensure it stays in right note.
1. Dont worry about promotion now, you need to learn, perform and prove your self first, promotion will come for deserved employees.
2. Salary - 10k per month is more or less industry standard for fresher from normal colleges ( non B school candidates). however you have decide whether that would surfice your financial need.
my suggestions would be, being in HR you should be more clear in wat you want, so that u can handle employees better.. wat is that you are looking for?? job/Career/salary/experience.
Freshers golden rule would be - Learn/Perform/prove your talents/ do value add to the organisation everthing else will fall in place ( salary n promotion)

With Cool Head you have driven home well all the essential points. Absolutely right my friend. Most of the youngsters do not want to travel through phases.. they dont climb on to the steps to achieve a position but want a lift - that's the reason for such questions. MBA with Engineering background is a added advantage for ur career.. Never get discouraged, as u r starting up ur career do not think of the salary now itself gain knowledge and reach the heights. All the best dude.

Well I agree with you that he need to learn and experience a lot but before this he need to realize what he did and is doing right now and where he wanna go in his future.

Mohan, I agree with him that you should not think about salary as you are not in situation to demand this.. Every one wanted to get earned in high but for this, one also has to get skilled and experienced. And you also have started your career with conflicts such as you have done your BE (Electronics and Communication Engineering) first and then MBA & Operations which are totally different to each other.

At this situation you need to stick to your current position and must earn some experience until you complete MBA and have to improve your basic knowledge and skills while learning HR and Their Functions.

You said above that you have promised you to promote you soon as Jr. HR Officer, and I wud say that wud be a good thing for you but you have to be too quick, smart and strategic to grab the things running around in your HR. Need to do lot work as you have to go long.

Once you will earn good experience, you will automatically be in situation to ask for higher money.
