As Pon said, try to send one that is signed. You should, ideally, courier it and not send it via the Internet.

As a HR Professional, I would recommend you to send by a hard copy to the immediate superior to whom you are reporting. Meanwhile, you may send the scanned copy also to your reporting authority citing in the mail that you have already sent the hard copy by courier or post.It is also advisable to send it from your official mail id by marking a copy to your personal id also.

Kvivekanand is totally right.
you should have to send signed hard copy to your immediate boss and also take acknowledgement from your boss.take photocopy of it and send scan copy of it through official mail and CC to your personal email id.
being an hr professional we should have to do thing in a proper way.
There is no any fix format for resignation..
but you can mention below
I am _____________Emp code _______working with your company since____________and i would like to resign from the post of___________.
Kindly relieve me on or before___________
I am thankful to all my seniors and peers for providing me support during the tenure of my service.

Hi All,
Thank you for your valuable suggestions. The thing is I don't have access to official mail id here. Is it worth sending it through personal mail id. Awaiting your guidance. Please help me.

In addition to the question raised above, can an employee make the resignation an immediate one, and choose not to resume to work without any prior notice to the employer?
