Dear All,
In our branch 2 employees have joined evening engineering college and are asking 1hr permission on daily basis.
Please let me know whether it is permissible or not.
Please advise.

Nothing comes free in this commercialized world so if they are asking cooperation from you then you can also ask " Something" in return from these 02 employees so that both the parties will be at win win situation.
P.S - Please discuss with management to fix "Something" which management will be looking from these 02 employees.
Please ensure that this Something will be reasonable & profitable & mutually aceeptable to both the parties.

That's why part time courses loose the value in market. Ppl just go for the sake of securing the qualification certificate but not for enriching the knowledge. To answer to your query, one should say a big NO.

No one contravention to office rules should be allowed. However this should be considered under Employee Development where one is opting for an IDP.
In lieu of the same min 8 hrs per day need to be adhered. The following steps can be taken
a)If they are into manufacturing they can be asked to come in earlier than the start of work and tasks need to be allotted to them accordingly.
b)Set a practice of EL(early leaving) where an employee leaving 3 times an hour & half before the official work time looses half a day.
c)If possible ask them to work from home everyday either in the morning or evening.
d)Review the courses they are doing and understand their direct impact to the work being performed by them.If it is beneficial to them and others alike develop it as an internal OD initiative.
There are so many alternatives Think of them keeping the Organisation & Employee in mind.

In general mgt. ignore the personal development of their employees. I think very first the prospective effects should be analyzed that, whether it will be good for the org. system and development.
whether it boost the confidence of the employee.
In return we can offer them early and/or late working hours. Can also go for Sunday working.
Also, it can't be ignore that after getting further education they may switch the job, so some type of bond/assurance should be there.

Dear All,
Thanks for your replies.
Those 2 employees are into operations and hence changing their timings will not solve our organizational purpose. When 100s of people working at a specfic time schedule, arranging special timing for these 2 people will not practically work out. Doing work at home is not permissible as per our company norms. another thing if we give permissions for these people it will become a partiality issue.
