Dear All,
Here's a small useful excercise you can try to understand how Goal can be analysed in detail: So here we go,
The TATA motor's Goal is :
"To enhance its leadership in India, and establish meaningful presence in select international markets."
Now, assume you are the Team member of TATA Management so using general brainstorming with your colleagues or on your own opinion try to list down the objectives you will do to achieve this goal. Once you are done see attached "DSVAP (Decoding Statement for Valuable Action Plan") analysis of same Goal statement and compare your action plan with one made by DSVAP. I am sure you will find many useful info on analyzing Goals in details using new technique. Your Feedback is most welcome.

Let me add few words here on how DSVAP Method converts complex goals into easy to understand action plan.

1st) It break downs all the complex words (complex not in terms meaning but understanding as action) of goal statement into simple meanings or actions so that every one thinks on common platform and their will be no confusion about understanding the goal statement between the team.

2nd) The goal statement is reformatted with simple and easy to understand actions/words agrred by every team member in 1st step. So that every one can focus on common issues without any confusion.

3rd) We further break down goal statement in logical reasons that may cause failure of goal to achieve. So once we have list of logical reasons by which Goal achievement may fail we can make action plan to address those issues. So, in this way solution of each issue forms the complete solution for Goal achievement by minimizing risk of failure.

This DSVAP approached is used in attached analysis document. Actual DSVAP analysis includes more details steps and provides you very good output. Also, DSVAP can be used for making action plan for Goals, Objectives, Problem solving, Strategy etc. by minimizing risk of failure of execution and thus save time and money of Implementation of task. Hey Manish,
Thanks for your reply. Goal setting is entirely different activity. There is something called KRA activity under which Goal setting is performed in all companies. You can search more details on KRA on this group. Well, once Goals are set the path or action plan need to be formulated in order to achieve Goals else it results in loss of money and Manhours due to failure of implementation. DSVAP mainly deals with after Goal setting activity i.e. making action plan or path to achieve Goal.
Well, are you from Nagpur ? I am coming to Nagpur on 22nd of oct for one week. If you want just mail me your contact details we can meet for coffee to discuss in general. Take care.

Hi,
Thans for sharing such valuable piece information, in that context i have some question : Objective is generally set by only top management and they must think all the poossible success and failure, but it has been observed that they dont share the objective with even middle and junior managemnt, which causes failure. They just advise deliver the objective to down the line people, who are basically executer of the objective. hence you are requested to kindly merit your valuable comments on the above so that while applying to the organisation we should freely discuss with the management, to start discussion with group of people instead of selected people.

Thanks everyone for your response. Yes, "DSVAP" can help in KRA activities, as well as making effective action plans for "Business Problems" and "Strategies". The attached document includes partial analysis and actual analysis include more details steps and its effective in results. It's very easy to practice methodology for making action plan and eliminates major problems of failure of implementations. If anyone would like to carry out one day training session for senior management team on "DSVAP" methodology for making action plans for Goals then please contact me on above mentioned contact details.
@Kararun thanks for your comments and I will surely respond to your query soon.

Dear Karnarun,

You got the right point. Its very important to share Goals with all levels of Employees from Top to mid to entry level too. The reason is, this helps to align whole work force to focus on common Goals. Otherwise, many employees just do work for the sake doing work and losses the energy and focus on activities they should do in order to achieve Set Goal. For example xyz pizza delivery companies Goal is "To become respected brand in the market" if they didn't share this goal with 1st or 2nd level of service persons who actually deals with customer and if those guys creates lot of traffic nuisance by driving rash bikes to deliver pizza in 20 mins or keep on blowing continuous horns to get sides or may exchange rough words with other drivers and reach the customer house n say "Namastey" n all script drama to please the customer then whats the use. They have just spoiled the image of Brand in the Market. So, company may earn tag of "Delicious Pizza's" but it will fail to be called as respected Brand.

Now, in this case fault is not on both sides. Company didn't share the Goal but as a part of objective it has trained delivery boys with Drama script on how to please customer so they did their job and delivery boy did his job. But nobody figured out above mentioned scenario what will happen when speedy delivery through traffic has to be done. Here, DSVAP plays important role it helps to list down all the reasons why company will fail to earn respect in the market and solution to this all reasons forms the ultimate action plan to achieve the listed Goal by minimizing risk of failure.

Feedback of other experts are welcome on this post started by Karnarun.
