Dear All;
I quit my last organization on 30th April 2011. I worked there for 17 months. I would like to know if I am entitled for the bonus for the financial year April 2010 to Mar 2011.(I asked the same question to the corporate HR of the company and was told that I am not entitled for this bonus, please guide).

Dear Singh
If you have worked for more than 30 days in the financial year and your
basic salary is (Basic + DA) is below Rs.6500/- you are eligible for bonus
Please check the Bonus Act for more details. But since it is statutory and your company is paying Bonus for the financial year, they cannot say that you are not eligible

Dear All,
Thank you for the insights. I would like to inform that I worked for full 17 months starting from 1st Dec 2009 to 30th April 2011. My basic salary was around Rs. 8800. All the other employees of my department have received the bonus however since I left the organization in Apr 2011 I was told that I am not entitled for the bonus. In the full and final settlement I was payed the LTA + the amount against the accumulated leave but not the bonus. Please suggest.

You are eligible for bonus. If the comany is not responding properly , you can go through the Goverment Labour Officer and ask for payment of your bonus
Dear Ravinder Singh,
Bonus is a statutory liability of the employer and he can not escape from it. He has to pay bonus as per the provisions of the payment of Bonus Act. You should submit your demand note to the employer under copy to area asst. commissioner of labour.
