do read "beyond the last blue mountain" featuring JRD tata.
am not sure whether it was JRD or his mentor who visualised in the last century, that it would be difficult for future business owners to keep a tab on the pulse of their employees.
an employee may be going through one of the toughest phases of his life yet the same doesnt hold much priority with the company's head....
this short handbook later on laid the foundation for HR as we know today..
also read May's edition of Human Capital, it features Classic labels which one the award for being the second best place to work...
14% bonus since 1950, average salary of a worker is 20000 pm, two wheelers given to all in 2006, the company didnt have a QC and HR mnager for all these decades and have hired a HR mgr last year only...

Dear Ana,
This is simple technique to interact with people. Does not require any books.
1. Know each employee in your office. from office boy to top boss. Interact at least 5-8 person in a day besides your dept.
2. Understand their difficulty & try to solve at best level but within co. policy.
3. Formulate good policy in your co. Make understand the people about them by showing PPT, meetings. Monitor the things are in place.
4. Celebrate bithrdays of Officers, staff & senior managers with entire team. Arrange picnic / family get together once in a year.
5. Conduct training programmes for them.
6. Open eye on people who are talking against the company and spoling the environment. Be strict with them.
People Interaction & communcation is most powerful method to make everybody happy in the world.
