What is the difference between HR executive & HR generalist?
Mr. Shashank, here is your answer;
An HR executive oversees the Human Resources department at a business, and is responsible for employee paperwork, benefits, training, team building and staying on top of current labor laws. The HR executive may be in charge of an HR department, if the company is a large one, or have the sole responsibility of overseeing everything HR-related herself.
Whereas, Human Resource Generalists (HR Gen) is a group of skilled people who assists companies, especially business, in human resource related issues including Training & Development.

to be in breif
HR EXECUTIVE is the person who looks after the day to day work (recruitment to ext interview)
HR Genarlist is expert in all feilds who helps in assiting the excutive not only in the traning programmes but also he looks in to the recruitment activity

shashank see h r generalist means a person to look after every thing like recruitment/training/compensation/statutary compliances. without any specialisation oneman show
My perception sometimes makes me feel that there is nothing called as "Generalist" in Human resource function. My defination of Generalist is a person with a wide array of knowledge, the opposite of which is a specialist.. And all HR people must agree that HR itself is niche category function which can only be done by specialist. We easily call it Generalist but does something like this actually exist or someone from his own benefit moulded the role of a specialist into generalist for his own benefits i.e. make one person do all jobs.... Some comments from Senior professionals would throw better light on my map of reality so that we can experience the unlimited power of Human Relations easily and naturally...

In short I can Say Executive is the Position and Generalist is the profile...HR's Designation can be HR-Executive, HR-Talent Acquisition/HR Recruiter,HR-Business,HR-Operation,HR-Generalist,HR-Manager likewise....
