Guys please comment on the Topic on "Duties of Safety Officer in Case of Fatal Accidents" what you think or have experienced when accident is fatal. Regards,

Dear Mr. Shri

In case of any accident which result in the death of any person or which result in such bodily injury to any person as is likely to cause his death, Factory Manager shall send a notice by telephone or special messenger within 12 hours verbal and written report within 24 hours in prescribed form (As per applicable state factories rules) to the

• Inspector and the Chief Inspector
• The District Magistrate or Sub Divisional Officer
• The office in charge of the nearest Police Station and
• The relatives of injured as notified by him in his personnel file.

Safety Professional role is as follows:

Support and advise the line manager with incident investigation, including classification and to provide medical assistance.

Assisit the management in ensure the legal compliance and report incidents to regulatory authorities.

But in actual as per today's scenario in 90 % of Indian Industries and Construction sector, if any fatal accident occur a safets pro is suppose to start his job from shifting of body from site till reach to the relatives... Any hurdles in between he is the person whi is suffering more... Co-ordinate for post-mortem, dealing with police and hospital people, public, arranging transportation, etc...
