Charity Worker
+1 Other

I worked (unpaid) for a charity and was the CEO and Treasurer. As a volunteer made and allegation against me, I asked that the trustee's investigate the allegation. Things got to me as it was personal and in distress I resigned. But the trustee's wrote back declining my resigantion and said they looke forward to a long relationship. Now 3 weeks afterwards they are saying I have resigned because I did not recind my resignation. Is that correct? Surely if they did not accept it then that should be the closing of the matter unless I insisted they accept it. Please advise. I am not looking to go legal, just to get it clear in my mind.

Hello Sir,
In this matter, the burden of proving that you have resigned goes to the other party...means they have to prove now that you have resigned.....just make it sure that they dont have any such written evidence, which can prove that you have resigned...If they cant prove it in court surely you will win....make sure your resignation letter is not with them and there is no other written evidence that might show that you resigned.

Hello ian,
Technically you need to rescind your resignation, even though the trustees have conveyed that it's declined.
Leaving aside the resignation issue for a moment, I think you FIRST need to make-up your mind if you want to ACTUALLY continue or not. Your next step will depend on this factor--in which others don't have any say whatsoever.
If you do wish to continue, then you can inform the trustees that you didn't really know that you have to formally withdraw your resignation & then leave it to them--if they are still interested in your services or not. If they don't respond encouragingly, I guess you get the message--maybe their initial response was something similar to your own--hasty, albeit in another way/direction.
If you don't wish to continue, then just sit pretty & move on in your life....
All the Best.
