Dear seniors,

I want to conduct some training sessions in my organization once a month to motivate the employees. How should I go about the topic and how to call and conduct training from an expert? Please guide me through the procedure.

Dear Sonala,

First, you have to conduct a survey to determine which training prospects your employees need. After that, you can categorize the needs or arrange a common training session for all employees.

Some awareness topics that all employees would prefer include:

1) IT Awareness
2) Presentation Skills
3) Business Communication Skills
4) Core Related Software Training

After identifying the needs, you have to tabulate them. What kinds of training are the employees looking for? You need to create modules for the training sessions. Once you have finalized the modules, conducting training will be easy. Otherwise, you can also reach out to consultants or HR solutions providers and ask them to send over modules so that you can collaborate with them for the training.

Hi,

Broadly, there are two types of training that are imparted in most corporates. The first is technical training, which is inevitable to ensure that functional competencies are fine-tuned and new practices imbibed. The second type is soft skills training, which focuses on improving personal effectiveness. These could cover a wide spectrum of topics. To get an idea of some of the soft skills training, you can visit www.actspot.com and click on the link titled "courses."

Nirosh has already given you the right suggestion to do a Training Needs Analysis to understand the training requirements of your staff. Thereafter, identify the specific areas of training required. For example, Communication Skills could include subtopics like Effective Email Communication, Presentation Skills, and Improving Grammar and Effective Drafting Skills.

Since your focus is on soft skills, particularly related to motivation, employee engagement, etc., I would invite you to also visit the following Inspirational and Motivational Blogs:

Dear Sonal,

Training needs identification is the first step, which is based upon assessing the performance of the employees by his/her supervisor during annual performance review. You need to prepare a training calendar/chart taking into account the training topic, type of training, training institute, location, cost, duration, and projected output of training on employee performance. This is prepared for the calendar year and needs to be approved by the management. You may search on Google to find documents related to conducting training for more updates. Feel free to contact us.

Thank you.

The previous comments are spot on about determining training needs. Is there a performance issue that training will remedy? As for the need to motivate employees, what's the issue or issues causing a need for motivation? What do employees believe will motivate them?

In addition to what has been said, based on my experience, I think the inclusion of senior management and a few participants in identifying training needs and designing the content could be beneficial. This approach will help you focus on specific needs and customize the content, including exercises. This strategy has been helpful in my career.
