Hi All,
I am Ruhi. I have a query reg career in hr, so best thought to ask the seniors from this forum.
I have completed bcom and am currently pursuing pgdhrm from symbiosis. I am working with an educational enterprise as branch coordinator for 4yrs now and i alone take care of the hr and admin activities. I need to change my org for career growth and wanted to know whether:-
1) i have taken a right decision of changing or shall i wait until i finish my pgdhrm course?
2) would there be any chances for me to get a job in this field now?
3) does the qualification or the experience into this field gets more weightage in the market?
Please suggest me for the above query. Your answers would be of a great help to me.
Awaiting for everyones reply.
Regards,
Ruhi.

Hello,

If you get an opportunity to work in a regular HR assignment with a manufacturing or IT or any other service industry, it would be a worthwhile move forward in the career. But do look for opportunities to learn in the new organization-meaning ensure that there is a structure within the HR department and that you get to work with good competent professionals. The decision to move out of the present job is RIGHT as it does not have growth potential and soon you may find yourself stagnating and busy with routine, repetitive activities that do not excite you any longer.

Whether to wait for completing PG in HR is not the most important decision if a good opportunity comes your way!

In HR, kindly remember that one is always learning (like in most other fields) if one wants to grow. One is simultaneously, working, learning, achieving, even failing at times and through all this one has to ensure forward movement in the career. To acquire such abilities, one has to do an "apprenticeship" under competent professionals, as it were. In the early days of the career one is fortunate if he gets to work in a professional environment of an established organization, develop organizational and business perspectives from which to deal with functional issues and matters. If you see value in this you have to choose the employer well and with caution. How you build equations with the organization and the people that you work with is another matter of a challenge!

Since the question raised by is of interest to many, I have answered in this manner, but if you need further elaboration or have querries, please do not hesitate.
