Considering Salary Increases for Retention

Is it feasible to raise an employee's salary purely because they're considering opportunities elsewhere, even if they're highly skilled? Granting a pay rise could potentially lead to other staff members raising similar concerns in the future. How can such a situation be managed or controlled, should it arise? I would appreciate any assistance.

It is prevalent in many organizations that they retain talented employees by increasing their salary. Pay disparity is prevalent. Yes, such practices may affect the morale of their peers, but in the competitive environment, we have to adjust to such situations.
