Hi All,
I am writing on behalf of my friend. Before 6 month she got a job in MNC CMM level5 company. After 4 month the company did her Background verification. In Background check she got negative feedback from her third last company. Actually she has not given proper resignation, so the boss of the company is repeatedly saying the same thing that he will not rehire her and she was absconded from there. As a result she got terminated last month. And more over now this company will give feedback as she has background discrepancy as a reason for her separation. Now for future she is getting worried what should she do in future. Can she show this company experience or she should keep this 5 month as blank. please anybody give good suggestion for her, she is in big trouble, she got 1.8 yrs experience in Java. please do help anybody.

Sarita,
Youngsters are not understanding the gravity of making exit from an organisation without completing formalities which are in one way or another create cascading adverse effect on their carreer path.
Advise her not to hide the factual position and show as separated due to personal reason. Showing blank for 5 months duration out of 2 yrs experience may invite trouble.

Its amazing to know that a Software Company would lay so much emphasis on a verification just because the new-employee left the last job from a previous company. The attrition rate in Software Industry is among the highest and it should not surprise anyone that employees keep jumping in that Industry and have a short shelf life.

Now if your friend is really a talented programmer, i don't think any Company worth its salt will look into why the recent boss is giving negative feedback....because there maybe numerous reasons for the reporting boss to react in such a manner.......hypothetically say even if a notice period was served and then complete formalities were done, but then say that the Company wanted to extend the employee's stay a bit more longer....in that case if the employee refuses to stay back longer, the reporting boss might also get back at the employee by using such negative feedback.

This is the drawback in the Industry regarding verification. All verification's should necessarily complete before taking the employee on board no matter what......if verification agency says its gonna take time, then give them a lead time before ruining an employees career graph unnecessarily. All this creates bad taste to prospective employees and their morale. Normally basic verification's should be completed within 10-15days time (eg. looks at credit companies and banks) and only then the employee shud b taken on board.

"In Background check she got negative feedback from her third last company" "she got 1.8 yrs experience in Java".
With the assumption that your friend changes 3-4 companies with in 2 years, need to suggest her to take career, seriously. Technical skills alone will not help someone to build a career. Professional ethics is also a critical factor
1. Suggest your friend to Go and meet the 3rd employer. If your friend made a reason for loss to that company, suggest to settle the same and say sorry to his/her then boss. Try to settle his/her dues and get relieved, properly
2. When your friend go to the next employer, be open and explain the details.

Don't assume that, as she has 1.8 yrs of experience in single company , before that she was working in two different companies in other than Java development. And the 3rd last company has given wrong feedback.

The problem is that the 3rd last company was very small organization and they didn't gave any document during the employment period. and the mistake from her was that she had shown that experience in this level 5 organization. For that she is suffering.
Now, this level 5 organization taken almost 6 months of time to terminate her and this company will give BGC discrepancy feedback for these 6 months. so she can't show this experience.
By this time she has got offers from other big organizations by showing 2 yrs of experience among which that 6 months is added.
So to manage that experience is that possible to give an experience certificate of a small company with whom she was working as a freelancer?
But she wants to show their experience certificate as 6 months working experience and the organization is ready to give positive feedback about her employment.
Please do suggest.

Hello Sarita-HR,
Forget about consultme's remarks BUT TAKE HIS/HER ADVICE--point(1).
Pon has rightly pointed out where your friend has gone wrong.
The only way to streamline your friend's career in the long-term is to do the clean-up act ASAP.
28677c5420521383353edc6e6 does have a very valid point--but that's in the larger perspective. I know of Employers who resort to such dirty games--lack of plain ethics & immaturity. But until the IT Industry wakes up & lays down practical/realistic rules of the game, I guess one has to suffer it.
BTW, what's your friend's TOTAL experience? 1.8 or 2 yrs or something else?
Rgds,
