Hi All,
I represent an Engineering Services company which broadly is classified as ITeS.
Since we do design engineering we feel that bringing cell phones into the work area may be affect
(a) Confidentiality of client's information
(b) Productivity
(c) Distraction to other employees
So can we make a general policy stating that all employees should switch off their cell phones while they are at their desks. They may switch it on when they go for breaks such as coffee or lunch?
Has anyone in this esteem forum implemented similar policies?

Hi Dear,
Many companies as banned using mobile phone while on duty.
In my previous organization when staffs comes for duty then have to put their personal stuffs including mobile phone in their personal locker at rest room and joins the duty.
You may plan similar policy as per your suitability.

Dear Mr. ES
You can restrict Mobile usage for those working in height, factory premises, construction areas and in mines for the workmen level. For them you have to provide secured locker system to keep their mobile and their valuable personal belongings.
But Supervisors, Managerial Level employees and Administration Staff you cannot restrict. Because nowadays without Mobile and system no work can go ahead.
