Hi Seniors,
In my office they are deducting professional for every month. But they are not fileing it. My doubt is, if we collect professional tax whether we need to pay it for government or it belongs to the employer. If we need to pay it to government what is the procedure.
Kindly advise me on the same.

Dear Bharati,
Professional Tax can be deducted and deposited either monthly half yearly or annually. For convenience we deduct it monthly.
For filing we have to deposit the same with Sale Tax department along with employees' list mentioning individual deduction.

Dear Bharathi
Professional Tax has to be deducted from employees every month and has to be remitted in PT account. It shall be paid by Cheque, Cash or DD in your local PT office. First of all tell me you are working in which city?
First you check whether your company is enrolled with PT registration, If so take the registration number. Fill the form (It varies between each state) and remit to local Professional Tax office.

WE are also new company in Chennai first in March 2011 we submitted the documents along with fees for P.Tax of employees, for the first half & second half of 2010. Still we have not got the registration number, these corporation employees are like dogs lazy dont do work. You go to the corporation office , ptax section in your ward / division and ask him about the details. You have to pay tax for the whole period since the start of your company.

We also consulted a consultant he told charges are 3000/- for getting P.Tax registration, which is too high so if you can afford the consultant just pay him 3000/- rs service charge he will do it all,
so we directly approached corporation of chennai. Now from two months we have not got the Ptax registration certificate, ptax dept on one side they tell us to pay P.Tax and on other side they are so useless and uncooperative. Even im planning to go and meet the revenue officer in ripon building and ask him about our P.Tax Registration.

About submission of ptax half yearly i also had asked a doubt some days ago no one replied seems no senior in this site is having knowledge or time to guide us about ptax.

Hi Bharathi.
As ravi advices kindly approach some consultants so they will get the registration certificates. Else you have to make lots of excercise to get the certificate.
Else go with the relevant documents and pay some incidental expenses to the officer so that you will get quickly
Dear Ravi
Submission of half yearly returns varies from state to state. In karnataka there is no half yearly returns at all. Only monthly & annual returns.
Even there will be some format to be filled and files. Just browse into the site and you will get it.
