You have asked help but then you should have mentioned what is your product or service, what is the customer profile in general, what is geographical spread of your customer, what is the methodology of selling etc. Without this information what advice can we give?
The secondary information is what is your role in your organisation? Are you owner or paid employee of your company? If paid employee then are you from HR or Sales?
The most important thing for sales department is having a well-designed sales process. If you allow your sales persons to sell your product or service in haphazard manner, they will make their own method of selling and few will succeed and few will not. Sales process will bring consistency in everyone's approach towards selling. Sales persons will come and go away but process remains with the organisation. In fact day by day it will get enriched.
The second challenge you have is how to generate sufficient records for future use. Many organisations do not grow because they do not have records to speak of. Sans past experience, every new sales person starts on clean slate. This hit and try method wastes their as well as organisation's valuable time.
The most important is "Sales Call Evaluation Sheet". Sales persons must evaluate his/her sales call on certain parameters. I am not talking about DMR or DSA which sales persons are very fond of making at the end of the day.
