MSW is the profession course for HR means Master of Social work. In that degree only there are three specializations namely. Personnel management and industrial relations, Community development and Medical and Psychiatry social work. Any how your already doing work. My suggestion is to do distance education Pgdm HR deplama course it will help you out to move increments and promotion for the same department.

Dear Singh,

Greetings !

As your friend suggested you, you can prefer to study MSW (HRM).
Since, i have done MSW, this is my advise to select MSW HRM.
The difference between MSW and MBA is,
1. In MBA, either you will study General MBA or MBA with 2 specializations (like Finance and HR or Marketing and HR etc.)
2. Since there are two main subjects, you will learn the basic of HR and basic of Finance/Marketing. So you will not have clear idea about the particular subject.
3. In MSW, there are different specializations like, Community Development, Youth Development, HRM, M&P etc.But these specializations will never mingle with other subjects. So you will learn the subject in depth.
4. In MBA, you have the choices to select the field either HR or Finance/Marketing. But in MSW, you are specialized in HR alone and moreover the labour laws are completely covered in MSW.
As a MSW holder, this is my view and opinion. I request the experts / seniors opinion on the same.

Some of the universities offer MSW HRM in distance mode also. Since you are working, you can opt for it.

Dear U singh
As suggested by anilkatteri There are Three specializations viz

*Personnel management and Industrial Relations which Include Labor Laws
* Medical and Psychiatry Which include Psychological social work
* Community Development

If you want to go into Admin field it is better to choose MSW(PM and IR). But now a days people who chose MBA also studying MSW because it reveals depth of what is Hr than MBA as said by Jesu kumar. With that you can also do PGDHRM or PG diploma in Labour laws if you are interested to work in Industries as Labour welfare officer or Personnel officer.Labor laws Provide exclusive subject knowledge of different Acts. But if you choose MBA you can go for all HR related fields like HR executive,HR recruiter

I won't agree with Jesu kumar that you can do MSW in distant Mode..If you have experience in industrial field you can do in Distant mode but when you do in regular mode you have Field work where you can go directly to industries and gain knowlege about Personnel Department functions

Hope you are clear with our views ...

All the Best.

Dear All,
Thanks for your valuable advice on the subject.
But I have a question as yet , If i am working as HR exe. and after doing Diploma in labour Law I want to move as a labour walfare officer, then my exp. would count or not in that field(as a labour officer)?
I mean to say that" suppose mein 4 yrs se HR exe. kaam kar raha hu to kya Labour law ka diploma karne ke baad mera HR ka exp. labour officer ban ne mein count hoga ya nahi"
pls. reply soon.
thanks in advance to all experts.

The counting of experience for any job vacancy will be taken into consideration only if the previous experience has the relevancy in the new job profile. Otherwise it will be considered as new comer only.
