If the organizational design is to believe, the success of the boss is directly linked with the success of the subordinate.
By that logic, is the success of the subordinate directly linked to the success of the boss???
Though both are not all-encompassing, do you believe in this philosophy? Especially if you are strong believers of teamwork?
Just curious.

Respected Mr. Nikhil,

An another important question arised, Thanks for it.

Of course, the success of the boss is directly linked with the success of the subordinate

There will be some condition in regarding success of the subordinate directly linked to the success of the boss..

1, If boss going out and getting business for the company individually then it will be consider as Boss Success.

2, If Boss getting success in project with the contribution/effort used by his subordinate then it will consider as “success of the subordinate directly

linked to the success of the boss”

And

Thought both are not all-encompassing, do you believe in this philosophy? Especially if you are strong believers of teamwork....?

1, Yes, I believe that subordinates and Boss will not equal, (as said Boss is the Boss)

Companies use to hired Manager/Boss by reviewing his/her capability, knowledge, experience, effort and qualification.

I bit confused on your this question “Especially if you are strong believers of teamwork....?”

As Boss/Managers were assigned/distribute the work to their subordinate and all together carry the same and take to the success.

Please correct me, if I toke above question in wrong direction.

Thanks,

Many times HR managers emphasize on team work more than anything else... Hence, the reference...
So, taking it forward, the team success is counted as 'success'... there is little room for individual 'success'...

Dear Mr. Gurjar,
Boss invests his time on the development of his subordinate. By delegating and assigning tasks, the boss makes subordinate capable. Sub-ordinate achieves his goals as he trusts him and develops him. Hence the success of subordinate is the success of boss. Boss has the control over the work of his subordinate.
Success of subordinate, further, can be the success of boss, when subordinate is able to manage the boss. However he does not control the boss.
If you remove the subordinate, boss gets done the task. But if you remove the boss, subordinate has to rely some other boss, unless he is competent.
If we go your logic, both should be enough matured and competent and understand the spirit.

Vinod,
Agreed, but you also believe that subordinates are competent (your post indicates you have assumed otherwise)... Their (subordinate's) locus of control is smaller...
From your post, you are actually saying that the 'chain-of-responsibility' gets broken at the boss... I am a little apprehensive about this view.
Is my understanding correct?

Sayeed is talking about selective rewarding... How is it translated to practice? Just curious...

Dear Mr. Nikhil,
The more i think to extract more information, the more i am getting confused because I BELIEVE IN SIMPLIFYING THE TOTAL PROCESS RATHER MAKING IT COMPLICATED. To some extent i prefer to "GO FURTHER DEEP INTO DETAIL" for getting more information, only.

Gone those days where you hardly find "ONE MAN SHOW"....

I am promoting the WORD - "WE" rather "I". I believe in WIN - WIN SITUATIONS where it should not be confined to INDIVIDUALS. Only then, you can succeed in promoting TEAMWORK. If NO - TEAMWORK, then everything is MISSING......

SHARING SUCCESS is only possible when individuals work UNITEDLY in TEAM and believe in TEAMWORK. I have no issues if my success is associated with my boss and vice versa. This kind of MATURED THOUGHTS builds LONG LASTING INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS where NO ONE CAN FIND EGO AT WORKPLACE, SUPERIORITY/INFERIORITY COMPLEX and more...

I am promoting MATURITY(in whatever we do) at WORKPLACE and its very much required for everyone to understand themselves, their team mates and lot more..

Why don't we replace the word "BOSS" with "TEAM LEADER", irrespective of his ownership. This will give you better picture.

Kindly don't consider this as "PHILOSOPHY" but, treat as the "THE BEST PRACTICAL APPROACH"

with profound regards

Sayeed, would you like to respond to SAK? There are issues with selectivity... SAK, do you have a measure (objective one) for maturity? From your post, it won’t work if the maturity is low...

Sorry for the late response,
I do agree with SAK as organization should work like a Team, but there will be some area where individual does work and get reward.

Yes, the selective rewards does occur in every organization.
They can be translate in practice in many ways, just needed the correct timing and the method of the work by boss or organization.
Let me give the example – The Business Develop manager:- He is the person to expand/develop the business of the company (I m not saying he alone, but his main responsibility is to do so) ,
Once he got the new business to company, they share with subordinates where they need to work on it efficiently and complete the project successfully.
In this scenario organization first Reward BDM on his success, later all subordinates.. So I believe this come Selective category.

Please correct me if again I m on wrong direction.

Thanks,

Dear Mr. Nikhil
I do have experience in SALES & MARKETING where i was compensated for my hardwork but then, i took support of my co-workers where i had shared my fruits, personally with them. This is what i call as TEAMWORK.
Let me give you an example: A friend of mine working in XYZ ORGANISATION, gets DATABASE/CONTACTS - TARGET CUSTOMERS from his superior. His job is to meet them all, try his best to get business to the company. But, the fruits are enjoyed by his superior for just providing him CONTACTS. This is not the fair process.
When it comes to MATURITY, it is the "THOUGHT PROCESS" where one should be well versed with POSITIVE VISUALIZATION & PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS. Not everything in this world can be measured accurately but one can educate individuals to make them understand the ACTUAL PROCESS/PROCEDURE.
With profound regards
