Hello Reshma,
Your line 'Will I get job opportunities into Software again' is confusing.
You are right now working as a Technical Writer & joining in the new company in the same function. How is getting into software coming into the scene then?Do you mean technical writer for software?
Coming to your main query: will working in Wireless background affect my future chances of employment?
I don't think it will affect you adversely. You haven't mentioned your basic qualifications. If your qualif. background is technical, then this step would become an added advantage in the long-run. Even otherwise, it would help you to spread-out your reach of skill-repertoire [assuming you want to settle in this line of activity].
Your field is something like a System Admin person--the more types of Operating Systems he/she is conversant with, the better career-wise--isn't it?
All the Best in your new assignment.

Hello Reshma,
You are right--this field is different from software tech writing. It's more related to Hardware tech writing.
As an analogy, it's something like writing a User Manual/Guide for a Mobile phone as also the technical manuals for the Repair staff [where a lot of technical jargon & software will be there]. Such jobs are a mix of hardware AND software.
So, in a way, it depends on YOUR priorities--if you want to stick to JUST SOFTWARE, then this won't be a good move. If you want to spread-out your capabilities, then this could be a good move.
One factor in the present opportunity you got is this:so far your work was focused on software Projects while hardware is very much related to Products [microwave/wireless being one of them]. As per the market scenario, usually it's tough to get technical writers for Products.
