In Middle level companies HR department is used for the managements benefit...... Why..
HR has to balance the both parts Management & Employees. In middle level companies workers are illiterate, they don't know their rights & in managements side they are looking for their own benefit. They are doing some activities to show the employee but in actual they don't interested to doing so, they are only interested in their profits. If u are favoring as HR to the management then you are capable & if not (or you have told something in employees favor to management then they will treat you like enemy....)
why... Can any body answer....
Why management is keeping HR for their status/benefit......

I agree with Mishra, its true that HR play role as management benefit in middle level Co.
Where illiterate Employees blindly trust there HR dept for any problems, but they support managements instead of Emp.
Well in some places its not the same, as most of the HR proffessional play as a mediator between Management and Employee and come up with the best solution.
In Every company HR has an Vital Role, so he should be fair play for both parties.
Note: - HR is also a employee of the management,
Thank you,

Dear,
Obviously what you are saying is right but it most applied to (PVT) companies, not ltd. what happened Ltd Companies are for wealth maximisation & (PVT) companies are for profit maximisation.
If the company in a way that wealth maximisation, then it's mandatarilly follow all legal rules

Dear Mishra!
Greetings for the day!
As far as I'm concerned, business (here Company) generally work with two main objectives.
1. Profit Maximisation and
2. Cost Minimisation
Here some Medium level and Small level companies are making this utilized and they are making their company policies in favour of their companie's profits. In this way, HR policies are also made in accordance or in favour of them.
The reason for this is today companies are working for Profit maximisation alone because they don't have staff or inteligence to say them the methods of Cost Minimisation. That is the reason why they are making these applied on illeterate and low knowledged employees to gain some pounds.
Hope you understand this.....

Hi Nimmi!!
I think in small & mid size companies role of HR is mostly of administrative and rather than Strategic Business Partner.
It still works like a personnel dept. where advocacy of employees, employee welfare, employee branding etc concepts are not entertained.
They have their own constraints of funds, infrastructure etc.
In large size companies, HR has a scope to grow in all these areas.

Yes, I am also agree that in middle size company's most of the workers are not aware of their legal rights. If some one from HR deptt. starts educating them regarding their rights then HR is not capable or not as per Management expectations.
But as HR professional I think that this is good for organisation if workers are educated regarding their rights they will not visit frequently to HR deptt. for every small small queries and HR deptt can devote its time to some other things.

Indeed it is the size of the company & management approach equation.
Smaller organizations are generally held closely by families & the management has a personal agenda. The owner of businessess wants own policies to be applied and HR is used as a tool to that purpose. Any profit or gain is seen as a personal gain or loss and maximization of profit is the ultimate goal.
Having achieved financial stability, Bigger enterprizes work for an additional parallel goal- company employee welfare. Here, the idea is optimization (and not maximization) of profit which leaves a huge gap in approaches. That keeps employees motivated with a longing for the company and commitment to work, work with passion, which accrues more profits by default and not pressure.
This difference is bound to remain because of the objectives & goals.

I am not agree with the nimmi mishra agreement because The decision are taken by a company policy and rule and regulation some time which are benift for the managment but not for the employee hr play only a mediatior / barginer role so its is the imp fact that several people think
HR department is used for the managements benefit.

First of all hats off for starting the discussion, this is one main thing keep on bothering me. Here being an HR we should be able to help both management and employee reach their goal as both are interrelated when we speak about the term Wealth. For a concern, employee is an asset and for an employee, the organisation is an asset. Mutual benefits always turn things huge.
I am happy to be a part of this discussion..........

Mr ashu,
when you have joined a family run business then ! Management is not ready to take the decision in written. they don't need any boundation on them, they don't want to tell the workers their right.
