Hi,
All the comments here are really worth it....
The main thing to do is READING LOUD...Just don't care if anyone tease about u reading loud..this will actually help you to perfect the pronunciation of words and will improve your tone & technique of speech...Also u will get to know when to pause while reading a sentence and where to punctuate.
Try to improve your vocabulary by reading new words and implementing on ur daily life....
Even if a sentence is grammatically incorrect as long as the message is conveyed it is not been considered. But when you write down something grammar does play a vital role. Watching English new channels will help you to improve the same.

Dear Venkat Ji and Yashoda Ji,
Just follow the advices of seniors who have contributed above. I have nothing more to add to what they have all said. Notwithstanding, I cannot prevent myself from quoting what one Marathi author, Shri Mahadev Kokate has said in his book - Phad Phad English Bola (Speak fluent English). He says that a child picks up its own mother tongue without any tension. The child goes to school very late, after it understands and is able to communicate in its mother tongue. Its knowledge of its mother tongue precedes its learning in school, even Kindergarten. The child is never shy of its grammatical mistakes. It goes on communicating and gradually acquires mastery over its mother tongue. So follow the advices of seniors - Think in English, talk in English and also dream in English. And one day you will be master in English. Think English, speak English and dream English but please don't eat English. Eat only Indian. With best wishes,

Hello Friend,
The best way to improve your fluency is to use the language. Try the 'LSRW' concept i.e Listen, Speak, Read and Write. If you are with English speakers, try to join in the converstaion, this is the only way you will learn to speak.
There are Sofwares available for the same. I think the best free(but not all free) is "Voice Buddy" but i dont know how exactly it run. Surely it can speak english by real human(98%) much better than "Microsoft Sam and Mary" and you can do it with yourself voices.
You can download at:

Hi All,

Let me expalin you how the 'LSRW' concept works with an simple example :

1. Listen : Take an example of new born baby. Initially he can only able to listen things. (Intense listening required, news channels and english rap songs with lyrics in your hand)
2. Speak : After listening baby is able to speak few words taught by mother or father or other family members. (Speak english infront of the mirror, it shows you how good you are looking)
3. Read : As he/she able to speak properly, then reading is easier for them. (read your best local english news paper)
4. Write : Finally they can write. (Ask your friend or any family member to give a random topic to you, and you have to write on this topic. make it a for few days.)
To summarize all, don't feel shy when you want to learn english. Treat yourself as a infant. But let me tell you one thing, your day will definitely come.

Best Sotutions :
  • Read Newspapers, Novels, Kids English test books etc.(Read out loud) and narrate the summary of it in english to your kids or friends or family members.
  • Watch News in brodcasting news channels as NDTV, BBC or CNN
  • Watch English films without sub-titles which will increase your understanding power and also helps you in pronouncing words correctly.
  • Cultivate the habit of speaking English with your collegues, friends, family members etc. Don't feel uneasy when you make a mistake instead learn from your mistakes.
  • Learn grammer . Purchase this book - "Wren & Martin".
  • Try chatting with your friends in Yahoo, Google, Rediffbol, icq, paltalk etc
  • Record and play back your conversations to see how does it sound when you deliver.
  • Everyday stand in front of the mirror and pretend as though you are in conversation with your friend. Speak in english and observe your body language and facial expressions.
  • Buy a dictionary to read and understand a new word every day/week and ensure that you use that new word at-least thrice daily whenever possible.
  • Attend free seminars of people talking in English even if they are of no interest for you, just so that you may understand the language and the ways that it is spoken.
  • If anyone is talking in English, firstly pay good attention and try to learn that how that person is putting his thoughts into words
Its definitely a slow process but sure shot way to increase your fluency. Have confidence and don't feel shy. Keep practicing as this leads to perfection. Good Luck to you.
