Dear Arun,

Reading your post I cannot help but think that you want to spend your working hours in an environment where HR is afforded the significance that you believe it deserves. Also, I get the impression that you have studied well and now, want to implement your learning for your organisation's and your personal growth and development.

If I am correct, then I admire your values. However, what you have to remember is that not all organisations are built the same. And, neither will every employer you work for place equal emphasis on your priorities. This is regardless of whether you are right or not.

So, really, you have 3 options up your sleeve:

Option 1: Let the status quo remain. If you choose this option, be assured that in time to come, you too will shift your value-base and become '1 of them'.

Option 2: Remain where you currently are, but become the best salesman and sell your HR policies and ideas to your employer. Show them (with actions and not words) the wins they stand to make if they implement your ideas either wholly or partly.

Option 3: Resign from your current job and look for another. At least you know what type of employer to avoid so that you don't find a different employer but with similar values to your current one.

So, in a nutshell, you do have a choice. But, the question remains that do you have the courage to take a decision based on what you value and what is important to you. Or, you want to continue to remain in your present, be miserable and unhappy, yet, convince yourself that you are a victim and don't have a choice.

Your call!
