As per Factories Act 1948 if a worker employed more than 9 hrs per day or 48 hrs per week (whichever is beneficial to worker), he is entitled to get double wages for over and above the said hours. If he has worked extra hours but within the above limit (9 hrs/day or 48 hrs/week as the case may be), only single wages is entitled. But in any case he will get double for beyond the above hrs.

Dear All,
1. OT is always Double irrespective of no. of extra hrs put in
2. Per OT hrs amount is = {Gross/(no.of working days in a month)/8}*2
eg. if gross salary of person is 3300/-
then in the month of jan Per HRs OT would be = (3300/25/8)* 2 = Rs. 33.00
and in month of feb would be = (3300/24/8) * 2 = Rs. 34.38
& So on
For more clarity ref : Payment of wages Act along with Factory Act.

OT is to be calculated in hours. You can easily calculate for a day. The law says the OT has be " twice the ordinary wage". So if you want to calculate for days, the same is applicable. Anyways that particular employee has to be paid double irrespective of hours/days.

if workers 1st shift is 7.00 A.M to 15.30 A.M including half hour(0.30) lunch and thereafter he works upto 19.00 P.M than his O.T should be 3.50 hours x 2 times and if workers from 2nd shift (15.00 to 23.00 P.M 8 hours shift including dinner) work from 19.00 P.M to 07.00 A.M 12 hours, than what should be his o.t 3.50 hours or 4 hours and also if production target for normal duty is 10000 pieces and than for 12 hours duty it should be 15000 or less.
please help in the above matter.
