We plan to reduce the working days from 6 days a week to 5 days a week .our factory comes under small factories regulations.is there any regulations to be followed and any labour laws regarding this. send some links supporting this.

Hi all we follow 06 days working in a week. if any employee repetitively presents only for 2/3 days in every week and balance days in a week if he is absent does he qualify for his scheduled weekly off every week ?? or his 1st weekly off should be considered on 7th day of his presence at work which may come after 03 weeks in a month considering 02 days presence in each week?
5 days a week working
Dear all i am working in hr dept in an turnkey project based company where we have 6 days week working culture and we have weekly off on sunday. recently i have proposed 5 days week culture so that all our employees will have weekly off on saturdays and sundays. my management has asked for a detailed report on this proposal and they want to know disadvantages and benefits of working 5 days a week. also as we are plant manufacturing company so most of our engineers work on site this should be feasible for both office staff & site engineers. what problems can be faced by us if we go through 5 days a week work. i am in the process of preparing this report so all of you are requested to share your views and ideas on this point. thanks regards sweety

In an it company is 5 days a week compulsory??? we have a team of 5 developers 2 sales persons billing... we were having 5 days a week in our organisation alternate week. once in two weeks we had 5 days and another week 6 days. but due to market conditions and few pending deadlines we had to cancel this. but after around 4 months they came up again asking for 5 days a week and they say they can not work for 6 days as they gets tired :huh:. so they need a break for 2 days to work properly for 5 days. as they have to think and apply their mind which requires proper rest... and this kind of arguments. so my question is it company should have 5 days a week? is it mandatory?

48 hrs a week and 5 days working in alternate week
Dear sir we are private firm in pune. we want to to make 5 days working in alternate week. we proposed our management that we will increase our working hours to 9:00 to 6:30 which are 9:30 to 6:00 currently. our management is taking objection that weekly working hours are more than 48 hrs which is not adhering to labor law. management is not ready to give through out 5 days a week at this moment. is there any solution on this so that we can make alternate 5 days a week and still we are sticking to labor laws? thanks kaustubh
