I am Parag. I have pursued M.Sc(Biochemistry) & currently i am pursuing MBA(1st year). In this situation, i am confused about specialization. I had decided to choose Operations as Major subject & HR as minor but in last month i have done a project in HR in MNC & since from that time i got confused.I getting attracted towards HR as carrier now my question is that, after having dual PG which Subject will be best for me at this level..? Where will i get more scope (as a HR or Operations) ? I wants to settle myself in the field of Breweries or Food industries. So, in this area how do i need to prepare myself for getting good job ? Please guide me.
From,
Parag.

Dear Parag,

Every discipline has its own importance and scope. HR and Operations are two core areas of business management and supplements each other.

Quote - "I getting attracted towards HR as carrier now my question is that, after having dual PG which Subject will be best for me at this level..?" - Which will suit you better is a question you need to ask yourself and not the senior members here. As you are pursuing your MBA, atleast by now your should be able identify your strengths and attributes and judge which area of specialization will suit you better. We can only provide you with option and subsequent advantages and disadvantages of the same.

HR is a support / facilitating function for any company. It facilitates identifying, selecting, training, maintaining and enriching the human assets of the company. When done with utmost care and precision, efforts on the employees will yield company excellent returns. It also remains as the most challenging activity as it deals with most unpredictable thing in the whole world - human mind.

Whereas, Operations specialization will lead you into the mainstream of any business. It will help you involve in the core business activity of a company and contribute directly to the productivity / results thereof .

If you have set your mind to be in field of Breweries or Food industries, you should prepared enough to take the challenges involved in the industry and get acquainted with process and systems existing in the industry and to inculcate in yourself the desired attributes and competencies demanding by the profile of the job.

Hope the info suffice your requirement

Dear Parag,
I would suggest operations because as per my view "An Operations include evrything i.e HR, Marketing, Finance, Logistics, Administrations etc etc. An business starts with its operations than expand into various divisions dedicated to HR, Mark, Fin or Admin etc.
However it totally depends upon your interest and dedication towards a particular field.
Having an MBA qualifications means that you are capable of being an Manager, doesnt matter in which field. You just have to a very good MANAGER - HR or OPS.
