I am a senior member in IR field. Normally terminating the employee at the end of probation period is legal. During the probation period the employee should be given ample oppertunity to show improvements. If his performance not upto the satisfactory level build up records to prove his inefficiancy by issuing warning letters. Then wait till he completes the probation period and terminate him at the end of probationary period. This holds good in law. In case of misappropriations or misconducts which hampers the interest of the company during the porabtionary period it is justified to terminate the service immediatly.
For any employment 3 months probationary period is short. At least 6 months probationary period is standard. If the employee is covered under the standing orders of the company, you have to follow the clause as per Standing orders, or if he is a work man and no certified standing order exsits, follow the model standing orders of that state.

Dear Pooja,
Nothing is impossible. One should try to reach the goal. Even if 60% what is said is practiced /cultivated one is sure to become a good manager or a leader. no body will be born with all the skills presented. It has to be developed and practiced.

Dear all who have responded.
Happy to see so many Good response except one or two not so good feed back. Tolarence / patience and healthy criticism is also one of the Qualities of a good HR guy. Learning is a continues process and has no end. I have tried consolidating all the good qualities a Manager or a Human being should have in order to advance in career or in life. The PPt may be edited to suit the requirement of the workshop / Class room or the type of audience you are training/addressing. Regards, B N Nagaraj

Dear All members,
Thanks for the good response on my previous presentation on "Qualities of HR Manager -ppt". This prompted me in posting one more PPt developed by me on "How to face an interview". I have conducted this programme for final year students of many colleges in Bangalore with mock interviews and group discussions. This will be very helpful for college faculty to give tips for their students and for other student feternity.

CHANGE is a must to survive. Remove the first letter C and the last letter E from change. See what remains. If you dont change that is what is going to happen to you. A good PPt. Keep it up.

Dear Shweta,
This has reference to quary above. When you want to tell a candidate that he /she is not selected be polite in communicating to him/her. You need not give all the reasons for not selecting the candidate. But do not tell him/her on the face that he/she is REJECTED. Word Rejected is a very sensitive word. Some people will get offended. You might have rejected him/her. But some other organisation might find him good. Just say that you are not suitable for the requirement we are seeing. Either it might be salary fitment or job profile fitment. Thank him/her for the keen interest shown in joining your organisation. Tell that his/her application will be in active file for future consideration.
regards
B N Nagaraj
